Stores stocking Christmas goodies

Alongside the ghosts and goblins in many stores, there is another season on the shelves.

Target team leader Kyle Naylor says, "It's all one in the same round here really, Halloween holidays right into Thanksgiving. Christmas is all one big chunk of time for us. We're already geared up, ready to go for those holidays."

But is the early jump on Christmas a trick or treat? That depends on who you ask.

Shopper Megan Bettinger feels a bit rushed, "I think it puts a lot of pressure on people, but that's the game. I mean that's the retail game and I think it's a little ridiculous actually."

But marketing experts point out stores wouldn't make the move to Christmas so early if they weren't hearing the sounds of the season.

Naylor says, "It's amazing. I wouldn't think it would sell this early but people love it."

It puts a "wrap" on Christmas before Thanksgiving or even Halloween. It's frightening for some, but a growing holiday tradition that is likely to continue.

There are a few stores, including Nordstroms, that still keep Christmas merchandise off the shelves until after Thanksgiving. But for most the spending season is already in full swing.
