Happy Halloween -- Or Is It Christmas?

http://www.nbc5.com/news/10169432/detail.html

While the thought of cold and snow may make people think of Christmas, some say the holiday decorations that are already in stores are too much, too soon.

A week before children go trick-or-treating, NBC5's Natalie Martinez reported that holiday lighting was already going up in Streeterville. On State Street, the Macy's department store windows were getting prepared for the season, while on Walton Street, jewelry was being displayed for holiday shoppers.

"We like to get ready early here at the House of Khan to make sure we're prepared," said Adina Feriante of the jewelry store, the House of Khan.

Others said holidays should never run together.

"I think we should concentrate on one holiday at a time," said one woman. "It would be easier, be so much less confusing."

Consulting analyst Bill Michaels of consulting firm Deloitte said factors such as lower gas prices and elections make people want to avoid risk.

"Folks are saying, 'Look, on my impact purchase this year; I'm going to get out early and get that before the availability gets tough,'" Michaels said.
