Families can be `adopted¨ for Christmas

CRYSTAL LAKE – Families who want to be “adopted” for Christmas can apply at The Salvation Army in Crystal Lake.

To qualify for the Adopt-A-Family program, families must have Social Security cards or birth certificates for their children, proof of income with pay stubs or other receipts, and verification of residency in Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, Huntley, Alden, Hebron or Island Lake.

Familiescannotreceive Christmas assistance from other organizations.

Applications for the program can be picked up at The Salvation Army office, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Applications are accepted during the following times:

 – 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

 – 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7.

 – 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 8.

 – 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14.

 – 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 15.

 – 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21.

Residents who want to “adopt” families or help with The Salvation Army’s holiday programs are invited to call (815) 455-2769.
